Houston Region 5 County Map
The Securing the Cities program is currently implemented in five counties surrounding the city of Houston. These counties are critical in establishing a wide net approach to radiological detection and interdiction. Police, Sheriffs’ and State law enforcement agencies within this region have united together in a standardized program that includes detection equipment, procedures, notifications and training. This unity of effort allows law enforcement agencies within the region to offer mutual assistance for many special events and activities such as the 2017 Super Bowl, Houston Rodeo, The Woodland’s Iron Man competition and Galveston’s Dickens on the Strand. Partnering agencies include Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department further enhancing the region’s depth of rad/nuc detection.
